When I was 12 years old I started waterskiing because there was a cable park build almost next to my house. There were no wakeboards back then, so I started out with waterskiing, trickskiing, slalom and jumping. About 5 years later the first wakeboards came to Europe and from that moment I was only riding wakeboards. The first years were very special to me. There were no magazines and I didn’t have internet so the only examples we had were the movies from the pro’s in the US riding the boat. So it was a very cool time, we were “inventing” our own tricks and later we started building kickers and rails. The scene was growing and so was I.

I picked up my first sponsors, Jobe and Protest (who are still my main sponsors), there were competitions and the whole media thing was growing as well. It feels really good to be a part of this. The first years I rode in some Dutch contests, I won some stops of the Jobe tour back in 2000 and after this I was on the podium of the Dutch Nationals for 5 times. Later I was able to travel more and a did a lot of international contests. Some of my best results are my victory in the Jägermeister Wake Riders, a 3rd place during the Protest European Boardstock and I was in a lot of finals of different international contests.

Although I like to ride contests I’m also putting a lot of effort in photo shoots, video shoots and freeriding. The next years my focus will be on shooting and freeriding and I’ll be more picky on which contests I’m going to ride. But no worries, for sure I’ll ride the WWA World Series and the bigger events in Europe like the FISE in France and the Jägermeister Wakeriderz in The Netherlands.

My goals for the future? I want to ride as much as I can for as long as I can!
